  1. The Hard Work
    By: Briann G.

We had to prepare, work hard, stay on track. We did all that for Junior Achievement Biz Town. Biz Town is where kids go to run a business for a day. There are CEOs, CFOs, sales managers, and many more jobs.
I was the CFO of the Warehouse. I think being a CFO is really hard. A CFO is the person in the business who pays the bills, deposits checks for the business, and who handles the money. The CFO is mostly on the computer all day. I liked going to Biz Town, it helped me learn how to write checks and pay the bills and stuff like that.
My step-mom went to JA Biz Town as a parent volunteer. Her name is Heather. She worked at American Airlines. I asked her, "What was your favorite part of Biz Town?" Heather said, "Seeing the students work hard at their jobs and learn new things". I loved going to JA Biz Town and being a adult, working at a business.

  2. February 15,2017 Ridgeline Academy's 5th grade took a field trip on a red and black old school bus to Juniors Achievement Biztown or JA Biztown. JA Biztown is a place were kids can go to see what the life of a grown up is like. You can work in real jobs like the Warehouse were I worked as a sales manager and got to organize sales, the D-backs, Freeport, Wells Fargo, Cox wireless, American Airline, Papa Johns, and the JA Complex, and a lot more.

Like I said before I worked in the worked in the Warehouse. I loved my job. My favorite part though was getting to buy things from other stores and hanging out with my friends on my break. I worked with Logan P. He was the sales manager 2. Our CEO was Hayden L and CFO was Brian G, our lines manager was Cody. "My favorite part about was my job" says Heba H who worked as the Senior Teller at Wells Fargo, but Kashia H who also worked at Wells Fargo as a teller says "My favorite part about Biztown was my lunch break".

JA Bizztown is to teach kids about how to work in a job and how to pay checks and everything. Before we went to JA Biztown our 5th grade had to work for months on Biztown. We got work books and checks and a speaker from Midfirst bank came and talked to us about how to save money and banking.

On February 15th, Ridgeline Academy’s 5th-grade classes went to Junior Achievement Biztown. We went on one black and red bus. JA Biztown is located in Tempe and the address is 636 W Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282. They want kids to stay in school and have a good attitude. It inspires young people’s lives.

In JA Biztown, I was one of two Disc Jockeys. I got to play the music as loud as I wanted to, on the speakers. During our breaks, we had to deposit our checks at the bank and the lines were pretty long. I got my check from CFO (Chief Financial Officer), Jakob. “I liked that we got to work”, my friend Israel said.

There are 22 businesses in JA Biztown, including Wells Fargo, American Airlines, and Papa Johns’. “Biztown was fun but loud”, my friend Holden said. “My favorite part about JA Biztown was running the sales at the warehouse”, my friend Izzy said. I hope you get the chance to get to go to JA Biztown, it is very exciting and fun. For more information go to http://www.jaaz.org/.

On February 15, 2017 5th grade at the Ridgeline Academy went to Junior Achievement BizTown. At BizTown, kids get to be adults so the kids get to simulated jobs to work at mini companies and work together to pay off a business loan. But we could just get on a bus and go to BizTown, we had to prepare. To prepare we learned how to write checks, endorse checks, what a loan is and much more. So we worked in workbooks, completed packets and even had a visitor talk about Midfirst Bank and saving money.

After all the packets and work all the 5th graders filled out a job application. Next our teacher assigned us jobs and the company we would work at. I was the CEO at the JA Office Complex. To figure out prices for the products and the radio commercial the companies worked together. Then we were all ready to go to BizTown.

So we hopped on a big, red bus and went to BizTown. First, we had a town meeting, we got our schedules and our list of responsibilities. So we all worked; some people worked alone and some worked with a partner. It was chaotic, there were kids everywhere. Kids going to the bank, paying checks, and selling items. Then people went on their break and when they returned I awarded my Chief Financial Officer 'Employee of the Day'. Later people went on their second break. So we finished up and cleaned up. When we were done cleaning up, we had another town meeting and the Mayor awarded the CFOs that paid off their loans a certificate. So it was a good day For more information go to www.JAaz.org

On February 15, I went to Biz Town. Biz town is where you get to be an adult for a day and work at a job. Biz town is located in Tempe, Az. I got to go to Biz town on a bus. It sounds boring, but the ride was fun, (Ms. Lane was dancing).

I got to work at Wells Fargo. I was a teller. So many people came on the first break. I got to have my own computer. My lunch break was really short, it went by fast! I thought I wasn’t going to have enough time to go shopping or eat. This is a classmate from my class, Heba and she said, ‘My favorite store was the Morgan Freeport. My most favorite part of the day was working with my friends and hanging out with my friends. What I like about Biz town was the stores and being a senior teller’, Heba. Here is another student in our class, Isabelle T. Isabelle has a few things to say: ‘My job was the Warehouse. What I like about best was running the sales.’, Isabelle T.

Before we went to Biz Town, we did some math lessons. We did about three lessons. Our teacher, Ms. Lane, made sure we went to the bathroom, before going. The we where on our way. Well I hope you go to Biz town and have fun!

  8. The Place Where Kids Are Adults
    By: Delani D.

On February 15, 2017, Ridgeline Academy's 5th grade went to JA BizTown. BizTown is an organization to teach children about what adults do in every day life. There are two different business areas. In each area are several different companies that you can have a job at. Some examples of companies are Wells Fargo, Freeport McMoran and Chick-Fil-A. These are real companies that sponsor BizTown so students can see what exciting jobs they offer.

One month before my grade went to BizTown, we started preparing. We received books to teach us all about what we needed to learn. About two weeks before we went on our field trip, we applied for jobs. We had to fill out job applications and our teacher selected our positions. Once we found out our jobs, we got into business groups with our new colleagues and discussed our business. I was a Geologist for Freeport McMoran.

When we arrived at BizTown we were given our daily schedule and our business goal. We had to pay off our bank loan. During the day we had to earn money by selling products and convincing people to come into our business and look at our website and learn about Freeport. We had to pay the bills that were sent to us by different businesses. We had two breaks during the day when we were given our paychecks. After we deposited them at the bank, we could shop around and spend some of our Biz Cash.

This was a very informative experience. I learned many things about how businesses work in real life. For example, I learned how to pay bills and I also learned how to work a cash register and how to deposit a check. My classmates loved it too. "I loved BizTown because we had to pretend we were adults and work at jobs", said Bryndal W. For more information, go to http://www.jaaz.org/.

There is a world where kids are the adults. Actually, it's not a dream, it's JA Biztown.
JA Biztown is a real life simulation of a business life. Before Biztown, we had about two months to prepare with workbooks and worksheets. We had to interview and apply for jobs. We had CFO's, CEO's and more. Now we are ready to go.
At Biztown, there was a Chick-fla,Freeport McMoran, and Cox TV. I worked at Freeport McMoran and we had so many fun things. We had a treasure hunt, photos and games. Michelle Bringhurst said, "At Biztown it was fun to watch the kids problem solve in a business like atmosphere." At Biztown, we had to pay off bills and a loan. I had fun at Biztown and hope you do too.
